We've been searching for a long time for something to do over Thanksgiving weekend that will help us take our minds off the fact that my mother isn't there with us. The actual *day* of Thanksgiving is still up in the air, and whatever we do, I'm sure we'll be plenty sad, but. Today I bought some tickets, and at least now we have something to look forward to...

We're going to Buffalo for the weekend. Leave on Friday, come home on Sunday. Relax, see some stuff we've never seen before, check out Niagara Falls...

And go to the World's Largest Disco.

Oh yes. The World's. Largest. Disco. We're gonna dress up and get drunk and Burn Baby, Burn.

Heh. My 10-year high school reunion is that night, and while people I hated spend $110 per person to mingle with other people I hated and awkwardly pretend they liked each other a decade ago while badmouthing each other as soon as the conversation is over and their backs are turned, I am going to be dressed like a friggin' Disco Queen, doing the Hustle. I cannot think of anything cooler.

2 tickets to my high school reunion = $220
2 tickets to World's Largest Disco, and 2 nights in a hotel in Buffalo: $220

Awesome.

Going to Buffalo? On a vacation???

Well when we get there on Friday night we're going to have to eat something, so if you have good restaurant recommendations - nothing too too pricey - around the Convention Center, I'd love to hear 'em. :)

Around the convention center? Hmm... don't know of anything off the top of my head. If you were in the northtowns/suburbs, I'd probably be better able to help you. Like, I might send you to Duff's or something.

I'll put a call in to my parents and see if they know anything.

Why the fuck would anyone ever pay $110 to go to their high school reunion? They would have to pay ME $110 just to show up for one (free) drink. Did whoever come up with the ticket price even go to high school?

Mine is next year. I will only go if I find out that the prom queen got really, really fat. This might be hard because I can't even remember who that bitch was.

Your plan is obviously better.

I'm NOT going to mine either. I have stayed in contact with those I want to and haven't stayed in contact with those I didn't want to. No point. They were all spoiled drama queens , and I am probably going to try to do the same thing in 2 years......I won't be lucky enough to find a World's Largest Disco on the night of mine though.....

I would LOVE to have the LONG-ASS Straight Hair....or an afro-puff....totally cool.

What exactly is the point of a high school class reunion anyways?
First off... It's been ten years. If these people don't try to contact you... they are so not worth the time.
Secondly... Who wants to hear that the entire cheerleading squad are now stay at home mothers, and that the quarter back never really left high school, but much rather became the janitor?
Third of all... if your successful enough, you won't have to go all the way back to four (or in some peoples case{not mine}five) years of hell for a night of drinking and cheap entertainment?

I see no point. I think I will go bowling instead.
